Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music, and emerged in the early 1950s. The term rockabilly is a portmanteau of rock (from rock 'n' roll) and hillbilly, the latter a reference to the country music (often called hillbilly music in the 1940s and 1950s) that contributed strongly to the style's development. Other important influences on rockabilly include western swing, boogie woogie, and rhythm and blues. While there are notable exceptions, its origins lie primarily in the Southern United States. The influence and popularity of the style waned in the 1960s, but during the late 1970s and early 1980s, rockabilly enjoyed a major revival of popularity that has endured to the present, often within a rockabilly subculture. Two words: Hell. Yeah. As a young(ish) mom, I know it's not politically correct, but I think tattoos, Bettie Paige bangs, and pencil skirts work right into my wardrobe. Along with my Crocs and khakis, there are things I like I just don't think should be excluded from everyday dressing. Have fun with it! Answered by waitingwillfill - Mon May 7 21:42:00 2007 Are there any good Rockabilly bars in the LA area? Q. We are having a rockabilly scavenger hunt and I wanted to end it at a Rockabilly bar. Preferably in the Hermosa, Redondo, Torrance area, maybe even Long Beach. It needs to be somewhere where we can all be dressed up and not look out of place. Asked by unknown - Sat Jun 27 18:18:41 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. There are a lot of places in Long Beach where we won't blink an eye if you're dressed up rockabilly. Try the Pike Bar and Fish Grill on 4th Street in Long Beach. It's owned by the former drummer for Social Distortion. Depending on what night you go they have bands. Alex's Bar, Puka Bar, House of Hayden, V Room, Reno Room, Fern's, Red Room and The Prospector are all good places to go. Most of the ones listed are on 4th St. in LBC so if you want to bar hop you can. Most of the bars listed have web sites so check out their calender of events first. Answered by Muppet - Mon Jun 29 11:45:23 2009 Does Rockabilly style makeup really include wearing blush?
Q. I would like to start wearing makeup in this style, but don't know whether or not I should wear blush. Every article I read about Rockabilly style of makeup says to use blush, yet when I see photos of well known pin ups/models none of them look like they're wearing any blush. I'm confused! Asked by Roxy - Wed Jun 10 14:17:11 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. place the blush on your cheekbones, rather than the apples of your cheeks, and nothing in the hollows of your cheeks...and of course keep the shade very subtle...you dont really see it cuz it has to do with the placement(If your looking at the face straight on your not going to see the blush) Answered by sorryMsJackson - Wed Jun 10 14:39:52 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Rockabilly"
